COVID-19 Cases in Japan as of 5th May 2020
Good news coming from Japan that the cases of COVID-19 falling sharply in Japan even though there was no lockdown declared and the shocking thing is the public transport in Japan wasn't banned, the restaurant across the country wasn't closed and also there were no objections on the mass gathering but still the number of COVID-19 cases is gradually falling, let us discuss how it was possible to Japan to contain COVID-19. Measures Taken By Japan To Contain COVID-19
- On 7th April the Government of Japan declared a state of emergency in most the major cities of Japan and after some days on 16th April expand the state of emergency to nationwide and PM Mr. Abe asked citizens in main cities to decrease transport activities and social contacts under the state of national emergency in Japan.
- Before the emergency declared the rate of increase in COVID-19 cases was 12% and soon as the PM asked citizens of Japan to reduce movements the Rate of Increase in COVID-19 was reduced to 1.5% which shows the power and bonding of Japanese people with their government.
- Japan imposes zero fines and penalties over its citizens like other western countries did where Italy imposed high penalties on people who violate the rules and restrictions of lockdown in Italy.
- Over 70% of the commuter movement was reduced and about 70% of companies were reduced their work and operational hour after receiving the request from Mr. Shinzo Abe
- Bar and restaurants were opened till 8 pm and citizens are allowed to consume drinks at the shop
- Public transport like Metro, Railway and Buses were always operational despite the state of emergency in Japan
- In Japan, there was no mass testing of COVID-19 made but the government of Japan was focused on the clusters and hotspots of infection and make sure to test each and every house in the hotspot or clusters area.
