After the pandemic coronavirus which affected millions of human beings across the globe and hantavirus which comes from eating rats in China, Now China released another virus which will affect pigs called African Swine Fever (ASF) in which mortality rate is 100% so that every pig which gets infected by African Swine Fever will definitely die because there is vaccine has been developed for this virus. The pig virus has entered India in early April and most of the cases found in the northeastern state especially in the Assam and Arunachal region of India and till now the virus killed around 3000 domestic pig in Assam. The African swine fever has entered India from a village in the Xizang province of China (The Tibet autonomous part of China) which shares a land border with Arunachal Pradesh and Sikkim.

What Is African Swine Fever Virus (ASFV)?

ASF is caused by the African Swine Fever Virus which is a double-standard DNA Virus in the Asfatviridae family and a pandemic coronavirus is a group related to RNA viruses.

History of African Swine Fever Virus (ASFV)

The first outbreak of ASFV was reported in Africa in 1907 and later in 1921, it was confirmed that Kenya was the hotspot of this virus. The virus contained in Africa until 1957 when it was spotted positive in the European region and the first case in Europe was reported in Lisbon, Portugal and later there are reports that Spain was also infected by African Swine Fever. Spain and Portugal were able to destroy ASF until the mid-1990s  by imposing the slaughter policy. From 1990 to now the world has forgotten the ASF but now suddenly in China because of unhygienic habits at the wet market of China this virus was found Xizang Provinces of China and later transmitted to Arunachal and Assam states in India. In India, the total population of pigs is 27,00,000 lakhs among them some belong to domestic form and the former depends on domestic pigs for their livelihood think if all the pigs in India get infected and die because of ASF, how much former lose their work.

Do African swine Fever affects Human Being?

Yes, African Swine Fever Virus will enter into the human body if there was a contact with an infected pig, but it has not enough power to bring some disease to human beings, if the infected human comes to contact with another healthy pig then the healthy pig will also be infected by African Swine Fever, later it will die because the mortality rate of ASFV is 100%.

China's Replies to Media

When the pressure was building against China and countries pointing to China that it is producing a series of viruses to the world, The Chinese president XI counter blame Indonesia because It export pigs to China, and one of the pig was infected later spread in China. Indonesia denies the blame and said it spread because of the unhygienic habits of China in its wet markets.
